A 16 day circuit to discover Portugal, the country with the oldest frontiers in Europe.

With us, you will be able to visit the entire country: from the green fields of the North to the white villages of the South, from the golden landscapes of the interior to the blue West. In this tour Portugal will be totally uncovered. Discover the cities, the villages, the astonishing landscapes and the UNESCO Sites treasures. 

We will show the best of Portugal, one of the most beautiful countries in Europe!

There is the possibility of choosing between 4* or 5* hotels, all of them of high quality and great charm, adjusting the tour final price. There will be a full time trip leader, that will provide all the historical and cultural information. The tour will be made, with all the comfort, in a 9 seats tourist luxury vehicle. The tour is made from Lisbon, with personalized pick-up and drop-off.

Day 1:

Lisbon

Transfer from the airport to the Hotel

Accommodation in a 4* or 5* Hotel (according to the chosen program).

Day 2:

Óbidos/Alcobaça/Nazaré/Coimbra

Departure from Lisbon towards Óbidos. Stroll through the village of Óbidos, a fully walled medieval village, considered one of the ten most beautiful villages in Europe. Visit the Castle of Óbidos. Then, departure towards Alcobaça to visit the Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery of Alcobaça is one of the most significant monuments of the European Gotic Period.

Free time for lunch.

During the afternoon you will visit Nazaré and the magnificent beach of the giant waves. The day will end at Coimbra, the university medieval city, cradle of the melodious Fado of Coimbra.

Optional:  Coimbra Fado Show and panoramic visit to the city at night.

Day 3: 

Coimbra/Oporto

Visit to the city of Coimbra, its University and the Joanina Library (UNESCO – World Heritage). Discover the second oldest university in Europe, the seat of knowledge since the Middle Ages. Afterwards, we will take you to discover the Machado de Castro Museum, which holds the vestiges of the old city and some of the most emblematic works of art in Portugal.

Free time for lunch.

Departure towards the city of Porto. Upon arrival, you will visit the Serralves Museum, a jewel of Modern Art.

Day 4: 

Oporto

We will take you to visit Oporto highlights and its Historic Centre (UNESCO Site).

Free time for lunch.

You will participate on a mini-cruise at Douro river and visit the Oporto Wine cellars, where there will be a guided tour and a wine tasting.

Day 5: 

Ponte de Lima/Lindoso/Ponte da Barca/Guimarães

Walk through Ponte de Lima, the oldest village in Portugal, explore its medieval Historic Centre and  get to know the Roman bridge. There will be time to taste the gastronomic delights and the famous green wine, unique in the world. Afterwards, you will stroll through the magnificent village of Lindoso to enjoy the landscape, the medieval castle and the ancient granaries, testimonies of the rural ancestry and national heritage. The tour will continue to Ponte da Barca, where you will visit the old “Pombalino” Market, a place of trade during the Modern Age.

Free time for lunch.

During the afternoon, we will visit the city of Guimarães, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and cradle of Portuguese nationality. Beautifully preserved, the city of Guimarães is one of the national ex-libris. Visit to the Historic Center, the Palace of the Dukes of “Bragança” and the medieval Castle.

Day 6:

Amarante/Pinhão/Castelo Rodrigo/Almeida

Visit to the Historic Centres and main points of each one of the localities crossing Douro’s landscape, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Day 7:

Sortelha/Belmonte/Guarda

The day begins with the visit to Sortelha, a magnificent medieval walled town, extraordinarily preserved, which reveals all the historical charm of Portugal’s country. The tour in Belmonte, cradle of the Portuguese navigator Pedro Álvares Cabral, will include the visit to the Jewish Museum and the Templar Castle.

Free time for lunch.

During the afternoon there will be a walking tour through the Historical Centre of Guarda, the highest city of Portugal, and its fascinating Historic Centre.

Day 8: 

Monsanto/Castelo de Vide

Monsanto is one of the most beautiful villages in Europe and the surrounding landscape is one of the most amazing. The walk to the Castle allows you to appreciate all the charms around the village.

Castelo de Vide is a charming white village where history has left its permanent mark. The walking tour will be  guided by a local Tourist Guide, to better understand the region and its History.

Day 9: 

Marvão/Alter do Chão/Arraiolos/Évora

Alentejo region guards some of the most beautiful cities and villages of Portugal. We will visit the historical village of Marvão, set in a magnificent plateau above the Alentejo plain. Then, a guided tour will be made to the Stud Farm of Alter do Chão, one of the most important in Portugal and in Europe.

Discover the Historic Centre of Arraiolos. The visit will be completed with a guided tour at the Interpretive Center of the Arraiolos Rug, an Art that reveals centuries of antiquity and contain an undeniable complexity and exoticism.

Day 10: 

Évora

Visiting Évora is like walking through History. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most beautiful cities in the Old Continent. We will take for a walking tour through the city highlights.

The excellence of Alentejo wine is unquestionable and we will take you to know it. You will visit a local farm to learn about Alentejo wines specificities and will be offer a wine tasting.

Day 11:

Monsaraz/Serpa/Mértola

Monsaraz is a village of rare beauty, surrounded by a stunning landscape. The labyrinthine streets and the bright white houses enclose all the charm of the region. There will be a boat trip on the beautiful Alqueva dam with a regional wine tasting.

Free time for lunch.

Serpa, distant and mysterious, will be discovered from the Castle, on a visit to its Historic Centre.

Dia 12: 

Mértola/Odeleite/Vila Real de Santo António/Milreu

Mértola preserves, to this day, the testimonies of the Arab presence in the Iberian Peninsula. You will visit the Castle and the old Mosque, today the Mother Church. Then, head towards Odeleite, where you will discover a typical house of the region, where you can relive the atmosphere of other times.

Free time for lunch.

At Algarve, Vila Real de Santo António is a lively village, entirely facing the sea and a place where you can relax in one of its many terraces. Then, there will be a visit to the ancient Roman Ruins of Milreu, followed by a walk through a Biological Farm of aromatic herbs.

Day 13: 

Sagres/Porto Covo/Lisboa

During the morning, you will visit the mythical Sagres Fortress. The endless sea extends on the horizon, at one of Europe’s most western points.

Free time for lunch.

During the afternoon, the Alentejo coast will be entirely crossed, with a stop at the picturesque village of Porto Covo. The river Sado will be crossed by boat, to better appreciate the beauty of Setubal’s bay clear waters, populated by dolphins.

Day 14: 

Lisbon

Lisbon is a magnificent city with 3.000 years of age of History and many points of interest. We will take you to visit the Historical Quarters and the charming Down Town.

Free time for lunch.

In the afternoon there will be a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and to the Belém Tower (UNESCO World Heritage), not forgetting the mandatory stop to savor the famous Pastéis de Belém.

Day 15: 

Queluz/Sintra/Cabo da Roca/Cascais

During the morning, you will visit Queluz Palace, one of the most beautiful examples of Portuguese Rococo. Then, we will visit the village of Sintra, awarded with the title of World Heritage by UNESCO, for a visit to the Pena Palace.

Free time for lunch.

After a walk through the village of Sintra, we will go to the “land of the end of the world”, Cabo da Roca, located at the westernmost point of Europe. Finally, a visit will be made to the charming village of Cascais.

Lisbon
