“They rounded the land tip, the barge was caught in the current and ebb strength, seemed like a trip to heaven with the sun flashing on the water surface and two families of porpoises, which one, which another, crossing ahead of the barge, their dark gleaming loins, arched as if they were imagining the sky near and wanted to reach it. On the other bank, based on the water, still far, Lisbon poured out the walls. The castle was visible on top…”
José Saramago in “Baltasar and Blimunda”

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in Europe. With three thousand years of History and the charm of ancient memories, is a genuine experience.
Founded by the Phoenicians in the VIII century B.C., was inhabited by Romans, Visigoths and Arabs. Was conquered by the crusaders in 1147 and, since then, is the capital and the most important city in Portugal.

Located by the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon was the open door to the world in the Golden Age of Discoveries. Bartolomeu Dias, Vasco da Gama and Pedro Álvares Cabral uncovered continents and showed the whole globe to humanity.
Lisbon grew during the centuries, but kept its authenticity. Today is a city with countless historic monuments, museums, gardens, pleasant squares, designed sidewalks and the bright Tejo.

Lisbon is unique!
